Potsdam Firefighters Extinguish Fires
Potsdam firefighters recently responded to two fires, including a garbage fire and a car fire.
On Friday, a fire broke out in the rear cargo area of a Casella garbage truck in the parking lot of a strip mall at 200 Market St. The fire department self-dispatched to the scene and found a pile of recycling material burning.
- Firefighters extinguished most of the fire quickly.
- Casella employees used a skid steer to spread out the burning materials, ensuring the fire was fully extinguished.
- The debris was loaded into a dumpster and hauled away.
There were no injuries reported, and the Potsdam Fire Department returned to service at 2:16 p.m. The Potsdam Police Department and the St. Lawrence County Fire Investigation Team also responded to the incident.
