A proposal to link Galveston and Pelican Island with a "land bridge" has been reconsidered, despite being a good idea.
The 60-year-old Pelican Island Bridge is the only land route to Pelican Island, home to Texas A&M University at Galveston and several industrial companies.
That design isn’t a bad idea and would provide some benefits the approved design can’t.
However, the idea was already deemed late in 2018, and now is not the time for a fundamental rethinking, as all parties are moving in the same direction.
