United Way of Delta County changed its approach to serving the community in late 2019. The traditional model of workplace campaigns and payroll deductions was replaced with an "issue-focused" approach, as described by Executive Director Julie Mallard.

The organization is now focused on school readiness, and recently hosted a Family Academy event at Bay College. The event featured literacy-based activities and free books, including a popular Rhythm and Rhyme station where children learned how music and rhythm boost literacy skills.
