Government Verifies Newspaper Circulation Claims
The government verifies the circulation claims of newspapers before providing them with advertisements, according to Information and Broadcasting Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore.
The newspapers are being given advertisements only after their circulation claims are verified.
Rathore stated that the Registrar of Newspapers for India has been tasked with gathering circulation details for various newspapers. The Ministry has also established categories and rules for advertisements in newspapers and is conducting an impact assessment.
- 15% of advertisements go to small newspapers
- 35% go to medium newspapers
- 50% go to large newspapers
- 30% are in English
- 35% are in Hindi
- 35% are in vernacular languages
