John Fetterman Says Democrats Are To Blame For Govt. Shutdown: 'Wrong Thing For The Country'

John Fetterman on Government Shutdown

Democratic Senator John Fetterman stated that his party is to blame for the ongoing government shutdown.

"But I would remind everybody, too, this was designed by the Democratic Party to expire at the end of the year. This is not something taken from by the Republicans. That's, they were designed to expire now. Let's have a conversation to extend it and not shut our government down,"

Fetterman expressed his willingness to discuss extending tax credits for healthcare, which are at the center of the shutdown fight. The tax credits, which make Affordable Care Act health care premiums affordable, are set to expire in December.

NPR reported that Democrats want these credits extended before enrollment begins on November 1 and have made it a condition to reopen the government.

Author's summary: Fetterman blames Democrats for shutdown.
