In observance of Fire Prevention Month, the Traverse City Fire Department is spreading awareness about the potential dangers of rechargeable devices, including lithium-ion batteries.

"We're actually focusing on grades fifth through ninth this year, and we're projected to hit every one of them,"

said Fire Inspector Jacob Steichen, who is taking this message to students across the area.

The goal is to educate students about the importance of respecting powerful and prevalent rechargeable devices.
