Gaza Strip: A Tortured Piece of Land
The Gaza Strip, approximately 40km long and 11km wide, is home to 2.3 million people in an area of around 360 square kilometers, comparable to central Sydney.
The consequences of the Israel-Palestine war have been devastating, with the United Nations estimating over 67,000 Palestinians killed and nearly 170,000 wounded, and about 1,200 Israelis killed and 5,400 injured since October 7, 2023.
Gaza has been severely damaged, with the United Nations reporting that 83% of all structures and housing units have been damaged in Gaza City.
The human toll is immense.
Gaza needs more than financial aid to rebuild after the destruction.
