Romania to Supply Uranium Dioxide Fuel to Argentina
Romania's Feldioara Uranium Plant has won an international tender to supply uranium dioxide fuel to Argentina's nuclear power plants for a year.
- The Feldioara Uranium Concentrate Processing Plant (FPCU), a subsidiary of SN Nuclearelectrica (SNN), will deliver nuclear fuel in the form of uranium dioxide (UO2) to Argentina.
- Argentina's power reactors, like those in Romania, are pressurised heavy water reactors (PHWRs) which do not require enriched uranium to operate.
Notable nuclear power plants include Romania's Cernavodă NPP with two 650 MWe Candu reactors, and Argentina's Atucha NPP with two PHWRs and a Candu unit at Embalse.
