Bob Ross Paintings to be Auctioned for APT's Create Fundraiser
Thirty original Bob Ross paintings will be sold to offset station licensing fees for American Public Television's Create multicast channel.
American Public Television is partnering with Bonhams to auction over 30 Bob Ross paintings over the next three years.
- The paintings were created by Ross on his series The Joy of Painting.
- Proceeds from the auction will help alleviate licensing fees for APT's Create channel.
My head started ticking away, like, 'Well, this many paintings would equal this much, and this many paintings would equal this much,'
says Joan Kowalski, president of Bob Ross Inc., who conceived the idea for the sale after two privately held Ross paintings sold for around $100,000 each.
