No. 3 Field Hockey Team Wins Third Consecutive Single-Goal Game
The No. 3 Virginia field hockey team needed a win to return to form after a loss to No. 2 North Carolina last week.
“Coming off of a loss we really wanted to capitalize on today,”
said Nemec. The team got their chance with a home game against No. 7 Liberty, which provided the perfect opportunity for a win.
- The Flames (10-2, 4-0 Big East) ranked second in the country in shutouts per game.
- The Cavaliers (10-1, 5-1 ACC) ranked third in the country in save percentage.
In the end, Virginia took home the 1-0 win, stifling Liberty’s attempt at an equalizer in the second half. The lone goal came eight minutes in off a deflected shot into the circle from graduate midfielder Suze Leemans.
