Microsoft Patch Tuesday: 172 Security Holes Fixed
Microsoft has released software updates to fix 172 security vulnerabilities in its Windows operating systems, including two that are being actively exploited.
October's Patch Tuesday marks the end of security updates for Windows 10 systems. Users who cannot or will not migrate to Windows 11 are advised to explore alternative options.
Zero-Day Vulnerabilities
- CVE-2025-24990: a vulnerability in the Agere Modem driver, which has been bundled with Windows for 20 years. Microsoft has removed the vulnerable driver from Windows.
- CVE-2025-59230: an elevation of privilege vulnerability in Windows Remote Access Connection Manager (RasMan), used for managing remote network connections through VPNs and dial-up networks.
Microsoft responded to active attacks on these flaws by taking measures to protect users.
