The United States has unveiled an unmanned version of the Black Hawk helicopter, the S-70UAS U-Hawk, at the Association of the United States Army's AUSA 2025 show.
Thanks to the absence of a cab, the cargo area volume has increased by 25%. The helicopter features a loading platform with hinged doors in the front of the fuselage and uses the Matrix control system for crewless flight.
The manufacturer can quickly and on a large scale convert conventional helicopters into drones.
Key features of the U-Hawk include a maximum airtime of 14 hours without refueling and a range of approximately 3,000 kilometers. The helicopter can be used for cargo transport and launching small drones.
The development of the unmanned helicopter took just ten months, according to Sikorsky.
