New First Presidency Selected by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
A new First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has been selected and will be announced at Temple Square.
The announcement is scheduled for 1 p.m. and will introduce the Church's new leadership. The First Presidency, the Church's highest governing body, consists of three apostles: the President of the Church and his two counselors.
The previous First Presidency was dissolved following the passing of President Russell M. Nelson, who served as the Church's leader from 2018 until his passing on September 27, 2025.
According to tradition, President Dallin H. Oaks, the senior-most member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, is expected to succeed Nelson as the President of the Church.
