Arrests in Child Abuse Case
A Muroc Joint Unified School District employee and his wife were arrested on alleged child abuse charges related to three children under 14.
According to the Kern County Sheriff's Office, 38-year-old Matthew James and his 35-year-old wife, Brittany James, were arrested by deputies from the Mojave/Boron substation on October 14, 2025.
The arrests were made after a report of possible child abuse in the North Edwards area, which led to the identification of three victims under 14 years old.
The Kern County Sheriff's Office stated that Matthew James is an employee of the Muroc Joint Unified School District.
The juveniles were taken into protective custody by Child Protective Services (CPS).
