‘We can choose to take action’: Filmmaker Anayansi Prado on ‘Uvalde Mom’ and what Colorado can learn from the shooting

Documentary "Uvalde Mom" Screens at Rocky Mountain Women's Film Festival

The documentary "Uvalde Mom" tells the story of Angeli Rose Gomez, a mother who rescued her two sons during the 2022 school shooting at Robb Elementary in Uvalde, Texas.

Colorado Matters producer Hayley Sanchez spoke with filmmaker Anayansi Prado about the documentary, which is screening at the Rocky Mountain Women's Film Festival at Colorado College.

Prado discusses what drew her to Gomez's story, the challenges of documenting trauma, and what Colorado can learn from the film.
