Indonesia Detects Radiation at Clove Farm

Indonesian authorities have found traces of radioactivity at a clove farm on Sumatra island, according to a government spokesperson.

The discovery was made as part of an investigation launched after the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) detected Cesium-137 contamination in spices from Indonesia.

The US FDA recently detected the presence of Cesium-137 in a sample of cloves from PT Natural Java Spice.

The Indonesian government has sent inspection teams to several facilities, including a processing facility and farms on Java and Sumatra islands.
