Lane Hutson Signs Eight-Year Contract with Montreal Canadiens

The Montreal Canadiens have officially signed American defenseman Lane Hutson to an eight-year contract worth $8.85 million per season.

The contract, which will take effect next summer, includes a small no-trade clause and the vast majority of the contract in bonuses, with $55M out of $70M being bonus-based.

General Manager Kent Hughes worked hard to convince Hutson to sign, initially trying to negotiate a deferred-money contract before agreeing to the current terms.
